Blood Biochemistry test for Liver Health check
About the Test:
The liver health check typically includes the identification of enzymes such as alanine transaminase (ALT), aspartate transferase(AST), alkaline phosphatase(ALP), and gamma-glutamyl transferase(GGT) produced by the liver and the Total proteins, albumin, and globulin. This test also helps to analyze the bilirubin. The variations of these enzymes and proteins from the reference range may be caused by any underlying medical conditions such as viral infections (hepatitis), hemochromatosis, Wilson’s disease, alpha 1 antitrypsin deficiency, or prolonged use of alcohol and medications. The elevated levels of these enzymes indicate liver damage and help to identify the physical condition of the liver.
